Joseph Tisiga
Exercice en résilience 1
2016
Catégorie:
Informed by his experiences as a youth
support worker in his home community,
Tisiga’s work addresses the ongoing effects
of colonialism on Indigenous lives. Here
the artist has superimposed words over
architectural plans from a now-demolished
residential school in Whitehorse. His message
– frustrated annotations to designs
that can no longer be changed or words of
protest to carry into the world – conveys
both hopelessness and resilience in turn.
